Wes Hutchens

Vancouver, British Columbia

Brother Wes was saved on May 10, 1972, just a few days before his 7th birthday in an old Methodist church with a Baptist evangelist preaching. During the invitation, his dad went forward…after a few minutes he too realized that he needed to be saved. Wes went forward and trusted Jesus as his Savior. He surrendered to preach while serving in the U.S. Air Force and attending Bible Baptist Church of Rapid City, SD. In March of 2001 Brother Mickey shared an article with him concerning Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He began to pray telling God that he was willing to do whatever He wanted. In 2001 during mission's conference a verse was read by a missionary…Acts 15:26, "Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." God used the article on Vancouver and this verse from Acts to begin a work in Wes's heart toward Vancouver. He is confident that this is God's will for The Hutchens family.

Scott Seifried

General Santos, Philippines

Brother Scott was born August 9, 1968 in Dover Delaware to Anita Brubaker. At the age of 2, his mother and new father took him to live in Oklahoma. His family later moved to Hammond, Indiana and lived there from 1977 to 1980. While his father Raymond Seifried attended Hyles-Anderson College, Scott and his brothers received their education at the Hammond Baptist Grade School.

In 1980, the family returned to Norman, Ok, where Brother Scott continued his Christian education at Moore Christian Academy, City Christian Academy, and Robinson St. Christian School. In 1987, He graduated from the Maranatha Christian School. He was saved at the age of 14 while attending Youth Camp near Odessa, Texas.

In 1992, Brother Scott enrolled at the Norris Bible Baptist Seminary (formerly Norris Bible Baptist Institute). It was at NBBS that Brother Scott and Miss Angela Cook met and fell in love.

Since birth, Angela and her family had faithfully attended the Echo Heights Baptist Church of Forth Worth, pastored by her Grandfather, Floyd Henry Cook. Brother Cook was one of the greatest influences in Angela’s life. It was later said, that on his death bed, Brother Cook prayed that God would take one of his children or grandchildren to the foreign field to spread the Gospel. Brother Cook had always had a love for Missions and made several trips to Mexico on many occasions to visit fellow missionaries. Brother Cook went home to be with the Lord after a bout with cancer. Angela was 6 years old and not only had lost her pastor but also her best friend. The congregation later merged with Worth Baptist Church, pastored by Dr. Raymond Barber, in 1986. She was saved at the age of 17 while attending the Pot O’ Gold Youth Camp in Comfort, Texas. Only two years later, Angela yielded her life to full time Christian service and enrolled at NBBS.

Scott and Angela were married June 15, 1996, just one month after Brother Scott’s graduation. Two months later, the newlyweds moved to El Dorado, Arkansas. Here, Brother Scott worked with the young people for 3 ½ years at the Bible Baptist Church pastored by Bro. J.D. Weido. Angela also completed her studies from NBBS and gave birth to their first two children, Abigail and Ethan. At BBC, there was a great emphasis on Missions and Faith Promise Missions Giving. Each year, BBC had a Missions Conference presenting several new Missions projects in need of financial support. It was during this time that God revealed to Brother Scott that he should take the Gospel to the Philippines.

In June of 1999, he took his first survey trip to the Philippines and felt God leading him to the island of Mindanao to a city called General Santos. He and his family spent the next 3 years on deputation raising financial and prayer support to take to Gospel to the Filipinos.

The family arrived in General Santos City in July 2002. Angela gave birth to their third child, Andrew, five months later. The couple spent 18 months learning the Visayan language and Filipino culture with a tutor. They began the Lighthouse Independent Baptist Mission at their home in February 2004.

Six months later, the family returned to the states for an unexpected 11 month furlough and for Angela to give birth to their fourth child, Elisabeth. In May 2005, the family again returned to their home in General Santos City, where Brother Scott continued pastoring the Mission.

The Lighthouse Independent Baptist Mission is currently averaging 90 in attendance and having souls saved weekly. In 2005, there were 304 professions of salvation and 57 baptisms. Brother Scott plans to organize the Mission into a church in 2006.
